God's word must be mixed with faith in order for it to become effective in our lives and be profitable to us. That means first must know what the Bible says. How can you believe something you haven't heard? Then, once we know what God has to say, we must choose to believe it. Unbelief inhibits God's ability to bless us. We see this in the life of Jesus where He was unable to any mighty works in His hometown because of the unbelief of the people there. Finally, after we choose to believe the word of God, we must act on that word in faith. The Bible tells us that it's this faith we apply to God's word which makes His word profitable for us. You can see God's word produce powerfully profitable results in your life. Just mix your faith with God's word and watch it work in your life!
For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. — Hebrews 4:2 (NKJV)
