Gene’s Daily Scriptural Postings

16 January 2024

Some people talk a good talk, but their actions don't line up with what they say. Others avoid the spotlight while they do a tremendous amount of good in their worlds. Only God knows what is in a person's heart. Judging people is dangerous business because Jesus said the same measure we use to judge others will be applied to us.

At the same time we are not supposed to be naive or allow others to manipulate us with their deceptions. Fortunately Jesus gave us a more sure way to evaluate people. He said the fruit produced in their lives will reveal whether they are good or bad. In context He was talking about wolves in sheep's clothing who deceive others with their words. The fruit our lives produce speaks far louder than any words we can say.

You will do well to be a fruit inspector instead of a judge. For your own part, instead of telling everyone what you are going to do, just show them by doing it. Focus on producing good fruit in your own life and trust God will honor that at the appropriate time.

Therefore, by their fruit you will know them. — Matthew 7:20 (MEV)
