Jesus said that as His followers we are the light of the world. He told us to let our light shine in front of people because doing so glorifies God. That is why complaining, arguing, and general grumbling is so problematic for us as believers. Our flesh naturally wants to grumble and complain about things when things don't go exactly our way. Our unrenewed minds often feel compelled to argue with everyone who does not hold to our own perspective on things.
Yet all that complaining and arguing is detrimental to the Kingdom of God. The Bible says those are the kinds of things that dim the light Jesus said was so vital for us to reveal to others. The more we argue and complain, the less we glorify God. When we do all that we behave just like the world. You'll never attract many people to Jesus that way.
Next time you are tempted to complain or jump into an argument with someone, think about letting God's light shine through you instead. Apply God's grace to the situation and hold your tongue. As you build the habit to consistently do that you will set yourself apart from the world and become more attractive to others. | ||
