Jesus has more authority than most of us truly appreciate. In John 17:2 Jesus said that the Father gave Him authority over all flesh, including the authority to grant eternal life. People were astonished at His teaching because Jesus taught with authority. He didn't reference other teachers to validate what He said. Jesus simply spoke the truth.
But Jesus didn't just say that He had authority, He also demonstrated it. He exercised His authority over all flesh by healing all who were sick and oppressed of the devil, and even raising people from the dead. Yet the authority Jesus wielded went further. Even the winds and the seas obeyed His command.
Before He ascended to heaven, Jesus told us He was given all authority in heaven and earth. Then He commissioned us as His followers to go in that same authority and make disciples of all the nations.
Now you have the authority, and the power, residing in you to do everything Jesus did during His ministry on this earth, and even more. Are you exercising that authority wisely? | ||
