Jesus said the world would know we are HIs disciples by our love for one another. He said that love for each other that we have should look like His love for us. Most people misunderstand love to just be an emotion when in reality love is action. Our emotions can be part of it. But how we behave towards others truly reveals our hearts for them.
The good news is that we don't have to force ourselves love others through discipline and our will power. Instead love for others will flow out of a revelation of God's love for us. Paul also said that knowledge and discernment are key components of love. It's through the knowledge of God and His character that we become more aware of His love for us. As we discern God's loving grace in our daily life, we gain a greater revelation of that love.
Likewise, our love for others takes knowledge and discernment too. Often we find it easier to be more loving and compassionate towards others when we know more about the challenges and struggles they endure. Plus, it takes discernment to know how to best love others. Unfortunately discernment is often lacking in the body of Christ today. You will do well to seek God for more knowledge and discernment in your love for Him and for others. | ||
