The Bible tells us that Jesus is the express image of the Father. Jesus gave us a very clear contrast to help us know God's character. There is a simple way to know what things He brings into our lives, and what comes in from other causes.
Jesus said the thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He contrasted that with the reason Jesus Himself came, which was to bring abundant overflowing life. That means you can look around your life and see what God is doing.
Does something steal peace, kill joy, or destroy hope? That's not God. Instead, things that bring lasting joy and fulfillment to your soul are the things God is bringing to you.
Some believers think that if they enjoy something then it must be their flesh and it cannot be from God. That's simply not true. While we can get into our flesh and behave selfishly, the things that truly spark life and feed our soul are often the very things God created us to be a part of.
Death, suffering, and destruction are from the devil. Resist the devil. Submit to God and embrace the abundant overflowing life He makes available to you in Christ. | ||
