Even though they are closely related, faith and belief are not the same thing. Unbelief is what shuts our effectiveness down and keeps us from receiving the promises of God. We are commonly referred to as "believers," after all.

Don’t be lulled into complacency when it comes to exercising your faith. The truth is, unbelief is far worse than many understand. So much so that the Bible flat-out calls unbelief evil (Hebrews 3:12).

The reason unbelief is so evil is that it causes us to grow distant from God. God is good. He loves us, and desires intimacy with us. By allowing unbelief in our hearts, we prevent ourselves from experiencing His goodness and the fullness of His love for us.

The way to purge unbelief from your thinking is to study and meditate on the truth. That will bring you into more agreement with the things of God. And as your heart begins to believe what God says, you will find it much easier to release your faith to see the supernatural in your life.

Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For truly I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. And nothing will be impossible for you.” — Matthew 17:20 (MEV)
