Gene’s Daily Scriptural Postings

There’s a reason why faith starts with hearing God's Word. In order for our faith to be effective we have to believe the right things, things which are true. Faith is hindered by doubt and unbelief.

Doubt is not believing things which are true. And unbelief is believing things which are not true. And just to be clear, when we believe things that are not true, we believe lies.

That means we do well to fill our minds with the truth of scripture. Even better, we can speak scripture out loud because the words we say have tremendous power. Then we can take action on those beliefs in confidence, which is exactly what faith is:

Faith = ( Belief × Action × Confidence )

The more confidence you have in the truth you believe, the smaller action is required to release the same amount of faith. Likewise, if your confidence in a particular truth is still a bit shaky, then it might take a very large action to release that level of faith.

Either way, we can grow our faith by meditating on God’s word so that our belief in that truth grows more confident.

So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
