Too many Christians pretend their lives are perfect and problem free. This hypocrisy needs to end because it causes so many problems in the Body of Christ. For one thing, when we are hypocritical, we create a barrier that repels others from Jesus instead of attracting them to Him.
At least as big a problem is caused in our own lives when we are unwilling to admit our own weaknesses and failures. It makes us more prone to perfectionism, holding us to an impossible standard we can never achieve. It’s soul-crushing and keeps us from the abundant life Jesus promises to give us.
In truth, a problem-free life does not make us more spiritual. Instead true Christian spirituality is complete understanding of and trust in God's goodness and faithfulness irregardless of whatever problems come our way.
Our weaknesses become the best opportunities for Jesus to display His strength in our lives. Freedom from that performance trap is found when we rest in the finished work of Jesus and lay aside any need to keep up false appearances. | ||
