The world most often gives to get. There are usually some sort of strings attached, an expectation of something in return. Worldly givers tend to have selfish motives and are often manipulative in their gift giving. Really that’s witchcraft, and it’s powered by the dark spiritual force of mammon.
Giving in the Kingdom of God is different. Kingdom givers are motivated by a desire to bless others. Children of God give freely and cheerfully, without any expectation from the recipient because they know God is the source of all they have and He blesses His children abundantly.
Generosity is the very nature of God. He gives freely with no strings attached. God’s generosity is an expression of His love. We see this in the most quoted verse in all the Bible, “for God so loved the world that He gave…”
Do you place expectations on how people should respond when you give them something? If so, it might be a sign that you have a more worldly attitude in this area. You can instead choose to follow the example of your Father and be generous with no strings attached. | ||
