When we praise God regardless of our present circumstances it changes the very atmosphere around us. It can even change our circumstances. For example, Paul and Silas were unjustly beaten and chained in prison. Yet they praised God through the night anyway. At midnight there was a great earthquake. Their chains fell off and the prison doors opened!
That same Spirit that was in Silas and Paul is the same Spirit that lives within you too. And it’s the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. This means God has placed within you the capacity to change the atmosphere in your vicinity too.
All it will take is for you to get your eyes off of your current circumstances and onto the one worthy of all glory, praise, and honor. As you begin to witness God’s goodness more clearly, let the wonder of that glory overflow out of your spirit, and over your lips in praise to Him. Then watch things change for the better.
How will you change the atmosphere around you with praise today?
Through Him, then, let us continually offer to God the sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
— Hebrews 13:15 (MEV)
