Your ability as a believer to be joyful in the face of adversity sets you apart. It is a supernatural sign to the unbelieving world that you are different because of your relationship with Jesus.
And you don’t have to force yourself to be joyful either. Nor do you need to pray for God to give you more joy because it is already included in the fruit of the spirit. This means it’s not a case of making ourselves be joyful. Instead we simply release the joy which God supernaturally planted in our spirit the moment we believed in Jesus and were born again.
When we allow the fruit of the spirit of joy to be displayed in our lives, regardless of our circumstances, it shows the world an overcoming hope that many will naturally ask about. At that point you become magnetic as people start asking you why you're different.
For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
— Romans 14:17 (NKJV)
