Religion piles guilt on people. A great many Christians think God is just waiting for them to make a mistake. They think God is looking for every chance He can get to punish them. But that is not true. In fact, it's the opposite of the truth! The Bible says that God removed your transgressions from you as far as the East is from the West. From God's perspective, all your mistakes, bad decisions, and even your outright rebellion is infinitely far removed from you. Now, it's so far from you that God can't even see all that mess. Instead He sees you for who He created you to be, perfect just like His son Jesus. The more you focus on your mistakes and failures, the harder it is to walk in your true identity. Why waste time and energy dredging up all that mess when God has already removed it an infinite distance from you? Instead, fix your attention on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith.
