Many Christians see themselves engaged in warfare fighting battles against the enemy. These believers don't understand that Jesus already won the war for us. Our role now is to enjoy and enforce that victory. We enforce the victory by standing in the truth of that victory. Instead of fighting the enemy to win new battles, we simply remind him of what a loser he is and how thoroughly Jesus defeated him. When Paul describes the armor of God, nearly everything is defensive. Even the gospel is described as sandals to give us sure footing and allow us to remain standing, no matter what. Paul also says that we are more than conquerors. Those two words, "more than,” are important. A conqueror must fight the battle. Being more than a conqueror means we can enjoy the spoils of war without having to even fight. You are born again and in Christ. Jesus already won the war for you. Just show up and stand in your place as an overcomer because it's time to enjoy the victory celebration party!
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.— Romans 8:37 (NKJV)
