The words we say truly have a huge impact on our lives and on the world around us. The Bible tells us that there is genuine power in the words of our mouths. We can lift others up or cut them down in a heartbeat with our words. Even more, the words you say either build yourself up, or tear yourself down. James says our tongue is like the rudder on a ship that directs our course and determine our destination. He says it can also be a spark that sets an entire forest ablaze to destroy it. When you are able to control what you say, you will also be able to exercise self-control over everything else in your life. You can actually renew your own youth by building the habit of delighting and being content to speak only good things. Do you feel like you're growing older and more tired? Then listen to what you say, especially to yourself. Perhaps it's time to change the words from your mouth so you only speak good things from your own mouth.
