Gene’s Daily Scriptural Postings.

14 August 2022

For the world, outwards circumstances determine a person's inner state. But that is not the case for the people of God. Our inner peace comes directly from God and flows from our intimacy with Him. When we are full of the presence of God, we can sleep peacefully, regardless of our circumstances. Jesus was sound asleep in the back of the boat when the storm raged all around, threatening to sink them. David says more than once in the Psalms that he slept peacefully during high pressure times of war because of his absolute trust in God. In contrast, David's son Solomon lived in a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity. Yet later in life Solomon drifted far from God and was so fearful that he required 60 armed guards to surround his bed at night. God gives His beloved sleep. Get into God's presence and get to know Him. That promise of sleep is there for you to receive. Even the worst of circumstances will look a little less dire when you are well rested. Sleep is a weapon that God means for you to have to help you overcome the enemy. Receive it today!

Behold, it is Solomon's couch, With sixty valiant men around it, Of the valiant of Israel. They all hold swords, Being expert in war. Every man has his sword on his thigh Because of fear in the night. — Song of Songs 3:7-8 (NKJV)
