CURE FOR A DULL HEARTWhenever we stop listening and dreaming, all that is left is a dull heart. One might think that a dull-hearted person is filled with doubts and fears, but instead, it is filled with pride.

“For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.” (Matthew 13:15)

Their arrogance has caused them to lose their dream and harden their hearts to sound teaching and instruction of the Bible.

All that is required to turn a dull heart into a pliable, beaming heart is repentance, listening to instruction, and getting a vision for your life.

Sometimes the reason we do not see the glory of God is not that God’s glory is not shining, and it is that we have a dull heart.

“Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:” (Ephesians 4:18)

This is because we tune out the things of God and love the things of the world. Paul said that the mindset of the world is opposite to God.

“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” (Romans 8:7)

Our problem is not that we lack light but love the dark, which is the hardness of our hearts.

“But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14)

No matter how dull our lives may be, there is healing available through the redeeming grace of God in Jesus. He can sharpen the dullest of hearts.
