Unity is an incredibly powerful force. This is because Psalms 133 tells us that God commands a blessing on unity. History shows us that when the people of a nation are united behind a common purpose incredible things happen, both for good and for evil. This also holds true on a smaller, more personal level. When a husband and wife are united towards a common family goal, amazing things happen there too. Jesus reminds us of this power of unity when He tells us that what we agree on in prayer will be done by our Father in heaven. Jesus goes on to say that He is in the midst of us when we gather in unity with other believers. We play into the devil's hand when we attack other believers. We sabotage our own effectiveness when we argue and fight with other believers. That division is exactly the opposite of how Paul instructed us to behave towards one another in the beginning of Ephesians chapter 4. Instead of always looking at the one thing someone says that you disagree with, why not make your focus the areas where you agree? You will find much more power in unity than you will ever experience stirring up strife and division.
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”— Matthew 18:19-20 (NKJV)
