The Bible says that the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may destroy. Poverty is one of the ways the enemy does this. Poverty is a condition of the soul, and is different from being poor, which is a financial condition. Prosperous people can be poor. For example, the Bible says Joseph was a prosperous man when he was a slave. But poverty is a mindset which involves an entire way of thinking that prevents people from ever prospering. This poverty thinking can become so deeply ingrained in families and in cultures that it can keep entire nations from prospering. The world's solution of giving money to people trapped in poverty thinking will never really solve the problem. People trapped in poverty ways of thinking will never prosper. Even when they come into riches, their poverty thinking will quickly squander those riches and make them poor again. The only effective long-term solution is the Kingdom of God. When people learn the ways of God and His Kingdom, they shift their thinking away from poverty patterns of thought. Learn God's ways and how His Kingdom works. Then you will start to prosper even before your financial condition changes.

So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,

And your need like an armed man. — Proverbs 6:11 (NKJV)
