Love and Law are two very different starting points. Law is clearly defined so it seems easier at first, which is why this approach is so attractive to so many. The problem is law can become mechanical, completely devoid of relationship. For many it is exactly that. But love is relational by definition. That makes love less precise and more difficult to quantify, which intimidates many. But love is liberating in ways the law could never be. Plus, the uncertainty of love fades away as we come to understand how much the Father truly loves us. It all starts with seeing God's goodness, which demonstrates His love for us.

For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. — Romans 8:38-39 (WEB)
