AUDIO VERSIONPUT OUR HOPE IN GODWhenever we encounter difficulties, most are prone to looking to earthly solutions. The result is usually just a Band-Aid on whatever is wrong, but it will not be our deliverance in the long run.
“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.” Psalm 42:11
Today’s Bible verse tells us to put our hope in God. But we tend to first hope in our friends, spouse, health, anxiety meds, or therapist. If our hope is in anything other than God Himself, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment.
This does not mean friends are wrong, or there may not be a situation where medication might help deal with some physical symptoms. But the issues the psalmist deals with in this passage, doubt, depression, and anxiety, are ultimately issues of the spirit.
No friend, mate, circumstance, medication, or counselor can be for you and do for you what God wants to do. God is your ultimate hope and help.Do you need Prayer? We are here to pray with you.
“Heavenly Father, You are my final help in any circumstance, no matter what I may face. You, Father, are my ultimate help and hope for anything that could come against me. Your Word says No Weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that rises up against me in judgment, You will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their righteousness is of You. You are my first and my final help, no matter what is happening around me. I put my hope in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
