Habakkuk 2:1-20 Bible in a Year:

Psalm 145:1-21 ; 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10

AUDIO VERSIONBUILD FOR ETERNITYHabakkuk lived in an age of prosperity and excess. People sought what was newer, bigger, and better, but none of what they built is here today.

For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14

God spoke through Habakkuk to warn Babylon that God was not pleased with the Babylonians' obsession with material possessions and money.

Habakkuk condemned the Babylonians for the way they built their wealth. Their desires were not lined up with God. They obtained their money through greed, arrogance, extortion, and bloodshed. Their houses were built through evil gains and filled with stolen ideas.

Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. Habakkuk 2:4

Habakkuk warns the Babylonians that their earthly possessions will eventually get old and break down. A life built on material things will not last, but a life built around a relationship with Jesus will last for eternity.

On that day, we will all give an account of what we built our lives on. Like in Habakkuk's day, we all have a choice: We can build our lives on a relationship with God, or we can build our lives on acquiring stuff and making money. Only one will last into eternity.

Is there anything about your attitude that needs to change based on what you read today about material things?Do you need Prayer? We are here to pray with you.

“Heavenly Father, I am thankful for all the Words of Wisdom You make known to Your children. My hearts desire is to please You and walk in Your ways of obedience. I must not ever allow any material thing on this earth to be above You and Your Word. My greatest joy will be obtained by knowing, obeying, and serving You. Thank You, Father, for Jesus! In His name, Amen.”
