AUDIO VERSIONCOUNSEL AND DISCIPLINE PART 1Two things are required to be wise: Counsel and discipline. We will be wise if we pay attention to these two things. According to King Solomon - Our wisdom will be with us for the rest of our lives.
Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days. Proverbs 19:20
The first two things that bring us wisdom are listening to counsel, which means listening and obeying what we hear from God’s Word.
God calls us to love Him with our hearts, soul, mind, and strength. This is not meant as advice that we can receive or reject.
When God called His people to listen, He meant to listen with a view of obeying what they were about to hear. Wise people listen to counsel from God and others who love Him and do so, knowing that they will also obey.
When we do this, we are not listening to pass judgment or correct all the things that could be wrong in what is being said. We are listening to gather action points that will result in a more specific and joyful obedience to God.
Is counsel and discipline in your life today? Do you need Prayer? We are here to pray with you.
“Heavenly Father, I must listen and obey the wise counsel that comes from You and Your written Word. I will study to show myself approved unto You, a workman that is not ashamed. To know You close up is to listen and obey Your every Word. Not only do I hear and listen, but I will live it to reach others for the Kingdom of You, God. Thank You for wisdom, guidance, and the strength to live for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
