If you feel distant from God, or like He is a stranger that you hardly know at this point, it is your attitude and perception that's causing the distance. God is still right there, patiently waiting and longing for more intimacy with you. If you think you must clean up your act to have intimacy with God, you have it backwards. The Bible says that's double-minded. That's a heart that wants to be near to God, but thinks it cannot because of wrong behavior. Instead, you are invited to draw near to God just as you are, and then He will clean up your act for you. Our behavior naturally changes in response to an intimate experience of God's love.
