Gene's Daily Scriptural Postings

28 January 2022

God looks at our attitude when we give, as much as our gift itself. This was the reason Cain's offering was rejected. Genesis 4:3 says that, "in the process of time" Cain brought an offering to God. He made his offering eventually, when he got around to it, from the leftovers. In contrast, verse 4 says Abel brought the "firstborn of his flock". Abel prioritized God first and brought his best. Able put God first and his offering was accepted. "Seek first the Kingdom of God..." Cain didn't. Cain was selfish and put himself first. God was an afterthought. Let your giving flow freely and cheerfully from the overflow of your love for God and your love for others. Then God will always be well pleased with your gifts.

Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion. for God loves a cheerful giver.— 2 Corinthians 9:7 (WEB)
