Some people abuse God's grace as license to do whatever they want. They mistakenly think that, because Jesus came to set us free, they are therefore free to rebel and live selfishly without consequence. However, we would do well to learn from King David whom the Bible says was a man after God's own heart. David had multiple opportunities to take matters into his own hands, kill king Saul, and assume the throne that was rightfully his after Samuel anointed him. But David refused to take any action to advance himself in his own strength. Instead, he waited for God to promote him. And that's exactly what God did in the course of time. Sometimes God presents us with opportunities to grasp what He promises to see if we will be humble enough to wait for God to promote us. David passed that test. Will you?

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time— 1 Peter 5:6 (WEB)
