Daily Reading Plan

James 4:1-17 Bible in a Year:

Isaiah 4:1-6 ; Revelation 5:1-14

To know God, you have to seek Him actively. James encourages us to draw closer to God and get closer to Him. Then James promises that as we get closer to God and He will respond by moving closer to us.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8

We are so incredibly blessed that God desires to come close to us!

Drawing near to God means that we have a desire for holiness, and it means we have the desire to submit to God and to follow where He leads. It also means we desire to know and apply His word to our lives.

To draw near to God, we must actively come close to Him. We need to present ourselves intentionally to Him.

As you draw close to God, He will draw close to you, and you will be strengthened and refreshed.

James gives us a formula for drawing close to God in James 4:8.

First, we must confess our sins and recognize that Jesus has already paid the price for our sins. So that means we can receive the forgiveness of God and remember the sin no more.

Then we can get on with the business of enjoying being in the presence of God.

Now ask God to examine your heart, motives, and what you do. He will bring to your mind things that need to change. Submit to Him, follow His direction, and your heart will be purified.

You will know what needs to be changed because, with a pure heart and intentionally seeking God, you will be uncomfortable doing anything that is not according to the plan God has for your life.

The more you read the Bible, the more you will be convicted when you sin. Do not worry; you do not need to be perfect to come into the presence of God, and you need to seek Him with a repentant heart.

Will you draw near to God today?Do you need Prayer? We are here to pray with you.

Heavenly Father, I come to You with a repentant heart asking for Your forgiveness and leadership in my life. You alone know all things and can see into my tomorrows. As I follow Your lead, I can be in peace with joy and peace in believing. You alone have all wisdom for all my days, and it is my repentant heart that follows You close up that brings the results in my life. I will read, memorize, and meditate on Your Words of wisdom. What a real life lived only in You. Thank You, Father. In Jesus name, Amen.
