Gene's Daily Scriptural Postings

Many people misunderstand courage. They wrongly think that courage must mean an absence of fear. Therefore they never move forward because they are waiting for the fear to leave first. The truth is, courage is most needed when fear attempts to rise up. Courage isn't the absence of fear. Instead courage is taking control over the situation instead of letting fear control it. Courage is a choice just as fear is a choice. God commanded Joshua three times to be courageous and not fearful. That fact indicates that Joshua had the ability to choose to be courageous. And Joshua wasn't born again. So how much more do you have the ability to choose not to give in to fear? That fear that you've allowed to hold you back may be the very thing that's keeping you from your God ordained destiny. Be courageous today and move forward in spite of the fear!

Have not I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. — Joshua 1:9 (MEV)
