Most believers are familiar with the idea of being transformed by the renewing of our mind. But what many miss is that renewing our minds involves more than just taking in additional information. Because there is a spiritual component to our minds, our minds have the ability to affect the physical world around us through what we believe and what we say or do. Paul tells us to be renewed in the spirit of our minds. That takes more than just memorizing the words of scripture. It requires us to ponder the truth of it, meditate on it by thinking about it from lots of different angles and considering the implications of that truth for your own life and situation. Instead of being a momentary one-time intake of information, you must give truth consistent attention over time to change your mind. If you change your mind, you will change your life. And if you change your life, you can change the world!
You were taught with reference to your former way of life to lay aside the old man who is being corrupted in accordance with deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and to put on the new man who has been created in Godʼs image - in righteousness and holiness that comes from truth. — Ephesians 4:22-24 (NET)
