The core message of the gospel is that Jesus died, taking the punishment we really deserved, so that we can experience new life free from all the bondage and baggage of sin. Most believers understand the idea that we should live for Jesus. Unfortunately many Christians try to accomplish that in their flesh because they haven't been shown how to walk in the spirit. Living out of our flesh is stressful and exhausting, nothing like the easy yoke and light burdens Jesus said belong to us. If that's you, here's a truth that can help. Not only did Jesus die for us, He also died as us. That means your old man truly is dead. Stop trying to clean up your act. It's a waste of time because that old act of yours died with Jesus. There's a better way. Since Jesus died as us, now we can also live as Him. Let Jesus live through you. Instead of trying to do the right thing, when faced with a difficult situation, like the ones which have tripped you up in the past, pause for a brief moment and ask Jesus to respond through you the way He would. You will be amazed at the difference that will make in your walk. Plus, it will be far less effort than you expect.

For Christ’s love compels us, since we have reached this conclusion: If One died for all, then all died. And He died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the One who died for them and was raised. — 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (HCSB)
