Money is near and dear to your heart, as it is mine. It doesn't matter if you have a lot of it, or very little. Jesus said where your treasure is, that's where your heart will be found.

Because the connection is so strong, our response to the subject of money tells us something about our hearts. Jesus said there is a spiritual force behind money in the world called mammon, which is antichrist and in opposition to God.

A heart influenced by mammon will hold money close and despise talk or teaching about Kingdom giving. If you get agitated when the offering is received at church, you might be holding your money a little too closely. If talk of Kingdom giving principles agitates you, or you argue against them and encourage others not to give, then mammon has you holding your money a bit too close.

Kingdom giving principles are all about grace, blessing others, while at the same time providing a path to increase so that we can bless even more folks in the future. Mammon twists it all into greed, selfishness, and stingy hoarding. Examine your heart when offerings are received and you will quickly see who influences you more in your finances, God or mammon.

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. — Matthew 6:24 (NKJV)
