There is something about sin that naturally draws the human heart in. Jesus talked about this and said that people naturally love darkness more than light. The reason for this is that they do evil things. We are wired to justify our actions. The more evil stuff we do, the deeper into darkness we withdraw to justify our evil behavior. And the further we go into darkness, the more evil stuff we do. It takes a supernatural encounter with the living God to break free of this cycle of bondage to darkness. Jesus is the only doorway that truly makes good on the promise to deliver us into light. In Him we are set free from the power of darkness and transformed into children of light. Many choose to reject Jesus and His light because they love their own darkness too much. Even when we become believers we still face a choice whether or not we will walk as children of light. Light or darkness, which will you choose?
And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. — John 3:19 (NLT)
