Money is a very powerful tool. Like all powerful tools, there is a danger associated with money that can cause harm. Money is powerfully seductive with the potential to pull people into a destructive love affair that corrodes their soul. This is because the evil spiritual force of mammon attaches itself to money causing chaos and destruction.
The way to break this spiritual force and protect yourself from the love of money is to value relationships above money. A willingness to lose a little money to protect relationships stops mammon dead in its tracks. And you gain so much more in return.
It starts with your relationship with God. When you prioritize your relationship with God above holding onto money and put Him first in your finances you will avoid the trap of mammon. We put God first in our finances through the habit of regularly giving from our money to Him and His causes.
Perhaps the best way to put that habit in place is to tithe by giving a tenth of our income to God. Giving God the first ten percent of the money you earn puts Him first and will help protect your heart from the deceptive seduction of mammon. | ||
