TONIGHT's Topic: "Last Words!"
"On Sept 13th, 1813, John Sedgwick was born. John became famous for two reasons in his life. First was becoming a Major General in the Union Army until his death in 1864. The second, and more famous thing General Sedgwick is known for, was the last words he ever spoke. Whether in a brave front for his troops or a false sense of perception, Major General John Sedgewick's last words were, "They couldn't hit an elephant at this distance". General Sedgewick was then felled by an enemy bullet taking his life.
As veterans. much less humans, we must be very careful what we say, for one never knows if they may very well be the last words that others will hear from us. Not to be morbid with doom and gloom predictions, but one never knows when our time will come. Take every opportunity to be uplifting in your words, positive in your spirit, and upbeat in speaking with others. Who knows, the smile you leave with them may be all they have to remember you by the next day." — Air Force Veteran Steven Bates
