Fort Custer National Cemetery is The final resting place for many of our nation’s greatest heroes.
The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen opened on Jan. 4, 2006. It is the first of four cemeteries built and run by the Texas Veterans Land Board under the Texas General Land Office.
The cemetery’s current size is 174 acres with up to 50,000 burial plots. The land for the cemetery was previously part of Fort Hood and was donated to the federal government. This cemetery accounts for 6,000 of the 10,000 Veterans to be buried in Texas State Veterans Cemeteries.
