God saw Gideon as a mighty man of valor. But Gideon saw himself as the youngest son in a family of the weakest clan of the smallest tribe in Israel. He thought he was nothing, a nobody. Which view of Gideon was right? God's view was more accurate. After all, God created Gideon and knew what He put inside him. The problem wasn't that the enemies Gideon saw all around were too big. Gideon's problem was he saw himself too small. This is the same problem the ten spies had when they first scouted the promised land. They saw themselves as grasshoppers compared to the Philistines. They thought that’s how the Philistines saw them too. But after 40 years of wondering in the wilderness, Rahab told the new spies that the Philistines were terrified of the Israelites the whole time. As a believer, you have the power of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you. God has already equipped you to accomplish great things. You are destined for greatness. That miracle you are praying for? God has already placed it inside you! |
And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” — Judges 6:12 (NKJV) |
