So many people think they need to "get right with God" before they can have a relationship with Him. But that is exactly the opposite of what the Bible teaches. We don't need to work to change anything on our end before we'll be acceptable to God. God already did the work on our behalf through Jesus. All that's left for us to "do" is to accept that finished work of Jesus on our own behalf by faith. God already gave you the gift of reconciliation, of being made right with Him. But until you come into agreement with what Jesus accomplished for you and receive that gift of God, you get no benefit from it. At that point it's still just as if that gift was never given to you. When you receive the gift, you get the benefit. This is the message of reconciliation that we believers should be sharing with the world. Don't focus on the problem of sin. Instead, put all your effort into showing people what the solution to their problem looks like. Point them to Jesus as the example to observe and learn from. |
But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; — 2 Corinthians 5:18 (WEB) |
