Inner peace is completely independent of outward circumstances. We see this comparing the lives of David and Solomon. David lived in a time of constant war. At least twice while others were actively trying to kill him he wrote that he was able to sleep in peace at night.

In contrast, Solomon lived in a time of total peace and prosperity but was so much afraid of the night that he needed 60 armed men standing guard around him every night. Despite having more wisdom than any man who ever lived, Solomon lacked inner peace.

True inner peace is found when we trust God fully. When you place your trust in God, then He will make you dwell in safety regardless of your outward circumstances. Because God is ultimately trustworthy, you can depend on Him absolutely.

Place your trust in God and experience true inner peace. It's time you had a good night's sleep!

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. — Psalms 4:8 (NKJV)
