Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
John 15:13Daily Reading Plan
Read: Bible in a Year: Ecclesiastes 6:1-12 ; Exodus 15:1-27 THE HEART OF THE GOSPEL Love is one of the most powerful forces in the world. We all talk about it, wonder about it, and long for it. But Jesus showed us love in the deepest, most selfless way possible. He said the greatest kind of love is when someone gives up everything, even their own life, for their friends. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. John 15:13 When Jesus spoke these words, He was not just teaching a lesson; He was letting His closest friends know what was to come. Only hours later, He would walk toward the cross, not because He had to, but because He wanted to. His love for us was that strong. Jesus carried the weight of our mistakes, our shame, and even our distance from God, just so we could come back to Him. No one took His life away, He gave it freely, out of love for you and me. This kind of love invites us to think about how we treat others every day. Most of us will not ever have to give up our lives for a friend, but we do get to set aside our pride, our comfort, and our need to have things our way. Sometimes, loving like Jesus looks like forgiving someone who has let us down, helping out when we’d rather take it easy, or sharing what we have, even when it’s hard. In those everyday moments, we get to be a little more like Jesus. Do not forget, Jesus calls us His friends. That means what He did wasn’t distant or impersonal. He knows you, cares about you, and gave everything for you. In a world where so many friendships can seem shallow or short-lived, Jesus’s friendship is different. It is steady, loyal, and always full of love that never gives up. As you stay close to Jesus, His love gently shapes you to be more like Him. When you choose to love others, even when it is hard, you show the world what His heart really looks like. His example reminds us that real love isn’t about what we get, it is about what we’re willing to give away.Do you need Prayer? We are here to pray with you. Heavenly Father, thank You for showing the greatest love by sending Your Son to lay down His life for me. Help me love others with that same sacrificial heart, choosing service over self, and reflecting Your love in all I do. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.True Love Is Not About What You Gain. It Is About What You Are Willing To Give.
