"November 8th marks the birth in 1884 of one of the most influential yet
controversial persons in psychiatric history, that of Hermann Rorschach.
"November 8th marks the birth in 1884 of one of the most influential yet controversial persons in psychiatric history, that of Hermann Rorschach. Even until as recently as 2001, the Rorschach inkblot was considered by some to be pseudoscience and it wasn't until 2015 that the veil of pseudoscience criticism was finally lifted and the inkblot test was accepted worldwide as a valid diagnosis tool in psychiatric medicine. Looking at the inkblots allows the viewer to perceive an image from an otherwise innocuous blot of ink which helps analyze the way the viewer thinks about things in general.
As veterans and those struggling with PTSD, we perceive things much differently than the average member of society, so we must constantly face that our perceptions of situations may be more intense than most, thus increasing our anxiety in matters where there may be no need for such reactions.
This is a constant battle that we face and tonight we will discuss how we face those perceptions to react in a manner more consistent with societal norms." — Air Force Veteran Steven Bates
