Gene’s Daily Scriptural Postings

25 January 2024

As a follower of Jesus, you automatically have the ability to hear His voice. God speaks to us all the time. However, many believers don't recognize God's voice even though He is speaking to them.

There are a few possible reasons why believers don't recognize God's voice. It might be that they are so busy they never get quiet enough to recognize God's voice through all the other noise in their lives. Perhaps they are so focused on the negative voices of fear and hopelessness that they miss what God is saying to them. Most often people who have trouble recognizing God's voice simply don't know how He usually speaks to us. They are waiting for a booming external audio voice to tell them something.

But most often God speaks to us in a still small voice which bubbles up from inside us, almost like our own thoughts. If the thought does not contradict scripture, and if it brings peace and hope to your soul instead of fear or anxiety, then it is likely God speaking to you. Why not ask God to speak directly to you today? Then pause long enough to listen for what He says.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
