Drop in TONIGHT with Volunteer and Army Veteran Mikel Burroughs for "Burly's Warriors" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).
We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

The "Tipping Point!"

Join Mikel & Friends TONIGHT as we discuss the "Tipping Point!" The "Tipping Point" represents that critical threshold where the weight of invisible wounds becomes nearly impossible to carry alone.
We will be focusing on EMRD (Eye Movement Relational Desensitization) as a tool for recovery.
What is the "Tipping Point?"
In the context of mental health and invisible wounds, the "Tipping Point" is the moment where the accumulation of trauma, stress, and isolation outweighs a person's current coping mechanisms.
The result of hitting the Tipping Point can look like:

Total Burnout: Emotional and physical exhaustion that prevents daily functioning.
Crisis: An increase in suicidal ideation or self-harming behaviors.
Isolation: Severing ties with family, friends, and the very support systems needed most.
System Failure: The body and mind "locking up," leading to severe anxiety or panic.
Understanding EMRD: A Path Back from the Edge

EMRD (Eye Movement Relational Desensitization) is a specialized therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process traumatic memories. Unlike traditional "talk therapy," EMRD focuses on how the brain stores trauma.
What it is: It uses bilateral stimulation (like guided eye movements or tapping) to help the brain reprocess "stuck" memories so they lose their painful emotional charge.
How it helps: It moves a traumatic event from being a "living, breathing threat" in the mind to being a "historical fact" that no longer triggers a fight-or-flight response.
For the Family: For Caregivers, EMRD can be a vital tool to address secondary trauma and the stress of supporting a loved one in crisis.
Getting Involved & Getting Better

Moving away from the Tipping Point requires action. Here is how Veterans, First Responders, and families can engage with EMRD:
Seek Certified Providers: Look for clinicians specifically trained in relational and eye-movement protocols through veteran-focused networks.
Education: Learn the "Why" behind the "What." Understanding how your brain is wired to survive helps remove the stigma of the "invisible wound."
Peer Support Integration: Use sessions like WFL Online to discuss the progress and challenges of the therapy journey.
Closing Engagement:
For the Transitioning Member: "As you move from active duty to civilian life, do you feel the pressure of the 'Tipping Point' increasing? How can a tool like EMRD help clear the 'noise' of your service?"
For the Caregivers: "We often focus on the hero, but the caregiver is on the front lines too. How can we ensure you aren't reaching your own tipping point while supporting others?"
For the Group: "What is one 'anchor' you use to pull yourself back when you feel like you are tipping over the edge?"
