TONIGHT's Topic: "We All Fall!"

"In 2010, General Motors made a commercial with the theme of restructuring and rebuilding using the catchphrase 'We all fall down'.  What was unique about this commercial was that it used footage of Evel Kneivel attempting to jump 13 buses in Wembly Stadium in London in 1975.  Kneivel didn't succeed in the jump, in fact, he crashed and swore to never jump again after breaking his pelvis in the pileup.  What he did do though was amazing.   He walked off the London field on his own, stating, "I came in walking, I went out walking".  On top of that, Evel didn't give up jumping on motorcycles afterward.  He came back, with a vengeance!

Just 5 months later, he successfully jumped 14 Greyhound buses, a record that stood for 24 years!  Born on this day,

October 17th, 1938. Robert Craig Kneivel taught us a lot about getting back up after falling hard.  Though he is in the Guineess Book of Records with having the most broken bones in a lifetime, Evel kept going, As veterans and survivors of depression and PTSD, we have a lot to learn from the indomitable Evel Kneivel.  We all fall down.  The question is, do we get back up and keep trying? My thoughts are yes, even past the point we think we can't.   Evel thought he was done after his 1975 crash, but 5 months later set a record.  We may not set records in our recoveries that stand the test of time, but the important thing is that we do atttempt to stand once again."
