Drop in with Volunteer, Army Combat Medic Veteran, & Music Writer/Producer Mike Williams filling in for COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs for "Burly's Warriors" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).
We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

"Internal Stressors!"
Join Army Combat Medic Veteran Mike Williams and friends for a discussion about "Internal Stressors!"
Welcome, everyone, to Saturday night’s 'Burly’s Warriors' edition of the Warriors for Life Online Peer Support Network. For those who don’t know me, I’m your host, Army Veteran Mike Williams. I want to personally welcome all of our warriors, first responders, families, and allies to this judgment-free space where we talk real, listen real, and lift each other up. If you are tuning in tonight, please remember: you don’t have to have it all together to show up. You belong here.
Tonight, we are continuing our critical focus on Internal Stressors, specifically diving into Part 2: The Alarm Within Us. After a lifetime of carrying the mission, many of us carry an invisible load inside—anger, guilt, grief, fear, shame, and the constant pressure to be strong for everyone else. Tonight, we turn that focus inward to explore what happens in the mind, body, and heart when the storm around us wakes up the alarm within us. Internal stress can be loud or silent; it might show up as a short temper, numbness, racing thoughts, isolation, or the feeling that you’re never good enough. If you are experiencing this, I need you to hear me clearly: it doesn't mean you're broken. It means your system has been working overtime to keep you safe. Tonight is about building a connection with people who truly understand, disrupting that isolation, and getting the tools we need to face the hardest battle of all—the one inside our own heads. The floor is open, and I look forward to walking this path with you tonight.
I want to thank everyone for their incredible vulnerability, honesty, and brotherhood during tonight's discussion. We talked openly about 'The Alarm Within Us,' and we reminded ourselves of a fundamental truth: you can't mentor others and still struggle inside alone. Talking about these inner battles doesn't make you weak—it makes you wise. Healing happens when we stop hiding and start reaching out. As we prepare to close out tonight's session, I want you to look around this virtual room and anchor yourself to the core principles of Warriors for Life. Please remember: you are not alone. You are not weak. You are a warrior. And above all else, we've got your six. The heavy rucksack you've been carrying in your mind doesn't have to be carried by you alone.
Call to Action
As we sign off tonight, I am giving everyone a tactical mission for the upcoming week to interrupt isolation and manage that internal alarm. Your objective is to actively practice The S.T.O.P. Reset whenever you feel that internal stress start to build.
S – Stop: Pause before you react.
T – Take a Breath: Slow your body down and clear your mind.
O – Observe: Ask yourself, 'What am I feeling right now, and what do I need?'
P – Proceed with Support: Choose your next safe step.
Use these tools to recognize your earliest warning signs, and don't hesitate to lean on your support plan. I challenge you to reach out to at least one battle buddy from this group before we meet again next Saturday night. Keep that connection alive, practice your resets, and keep driving on. See you all next week.
