Gene’s Daily Scriptural Postings

Prayer is far more powerful than most Christians realize. Jesus said that when we truly believe, we will receive whatever we ask for in prayer. There are two parts of this. First, we must speak out what we believe. Jesus told us we’ll get what we say.

The second part is equally important. We must also believe what we say. This can trip some up because, while they believe God can do a thing, they often don’t really believe that He will do it for them. The more we hear the word of God, the more this unbelief is purged from our hearts.

One way to strengthen our ability to believe is to pray the promises of God we see in the Bible. All the promises of God are already guaranteed in Jesus. The Bible says God’s promises are already “yes” and “amen” in Christ.

That means we can pray those promises boldly in faith, knowing they will come to pass. What God has said, He will do.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect. — James 5:16 (HCSB)
