When a Veteran, First Responder, or active-duty service member experiences invisible wounds (such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder [PTSD] or moral injury) on top of unresolved childhood wounds (Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs), the two layers of trauma do not simply sit side-by-side. Instead, they interlock and compound each other, creating a highly sensitized nervous system that lowers the threshold for psychological distress and alters the trajectory of adult occupational trauma.

Fixing these compounded wounds requires transitioning away from standard, single-incident PTSD therapies toward an integrated, phase-based clinical sequence that prioritizes biological stabilization before deep memory processing.
