Join our Volunteer, Army Combat Medic Veteran, & Music Writer/Producer Mike Williams TONIGHT for "Mike Check" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, sponsored and presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).
We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

TONIGHT's Topic: "Supper's Ready!"
Join Mike & Friends TONIGHT for a discussion about "Supper's Ready!" with a focus on “Supper” that comes from an old tradition of gathering to eat later in the day, and its roots reflect connection, simplicity, and shared time.
“Supper” comes from the Old French word souper, meaning “to eat the evening meal.”
Family, Friends, and Fellowship

Because it happened at day’s end, supper became a time of reunion, when: work was done, light was fading, people gathered to eat, talk, and reconnect.

Unlike feasts or formal meals, supper was casual, intimate, and familiar. It implied: Shared food, not showy food, conversation, belonging, and hospitality without pretense. In many cultures, inviting someone to “stay for supper” meant welcoming them into your inner circle.
The word “supper” isn’t just about eating—it’s about: Ending the day together, sharing simple food, making space for connection. It's a word rooted in warmth, welcome, and the rhythm of gathering at the close of the day.

TONIGHT Mike Williams shares his poem
"Supper's Ready"
Poem Lyrics -
We gather where the daylight fades,
soft clatter of plates and gentle voices
stir the quiet like a hymn.
Supper is not just the food we share—
it is the pause, the breathing out,
the circle drawn around our weariness.
Here, hands pass more than bread.
They pass stories half-finished,
laughter rescued from long days,
and silence that doesn’t feel alone.
A chair pulled out means you belong,
even if your heart arrives late.
Steam rises from bowls like prayer,
seasoned with memory—
someone’s grandmother’s way of stirring love
into a pot that never runs empty.
We do not measure by portions,
but by presence.
At this humble hour
no one must be whole to be welcomed.
The tired, the joyful, the grieving, the shy—
all find their place without asking.
Supper forgives the day
and invites the night in gently.
For here, under this soft light,
every face is known,
every voice is heard,
and every heart—hungry or full—
is fed by more than food.
