We are asking everyone to share who we are and the support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing through the Warriors for Life (WFL) online network. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

Please share the Warriors for Life mission with Veterans, first responders, active-duty service members, caregivers, and family members. Invite someone to join us for one meeting, learn what WFL offers, and share the hard-earned wisdom that may help another person feel less alone.


The sound may belong to tonight, but the alarm may come from yesterday. Healing begins when we remind the body: I am here. I am safe enough for this moment. I am not alone.”


When the Celebration Around Us Does Not Feel Like a Celebration Inside Us



The Fourth of July represents freedom, sacrifice, family, and national pride. For many people, it also means cookouts, music, flags, and a neighborhood competition involving questionable amounts of explosives.


For Veterans, first responders, trauma survivors, and the people who love them, those same fireworks may carry a different meaning. A sudden blast, flash of light, smell of smoke, crowded gathering, ceremonial cannon, or unexpected burst close to home can wake a survival system that once had a very good reason to stay alert.


The thinking mind may know, “I am standing in my backyard.” The body may answer, “Something is wrong. Find the threat. Protect everyone.” That reaction is not weakness, failure, or a lack of patriotism. It may be an old survival response reacting to a present-day reminder.
