Welcome, everyone, to today’s Warriors for Life Online Peer Support Network. Today is July 4th, 2026. Across our nation, millions are looking at the sky, watching fireworks, and celebrating the Semiquincentennial—the 250th birthday of the United States of America.

We often hear the phrase "Freedom isn't free." Today, we are going to strip away the slogan and talk about what that actually means for the people in this room. For our veterans, first responders, and active service members, freedom isn't a historical document or a holiday. It is a daily, exhausting negotiation.

We are talking about individuals living with invisible wounds—PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, moral injury, and severe anxiety. For them, freedom means fighting for freedom from stigma, freedom from ridicule, and the literal freedom of movement in a society that often does not understand them. Today, we get deep. We will examine the true, daily cost of this freedom, and how service members, families, caregivers, and society can work together to lower that cost. Thank you for being here. You are among family. Let’s dive in."
