Join Mikel TONIGHT for "Building a Strong Support Network!" with Warriors for Life (WFL)

Updated: 2 days ago

Drop in TONIGHT with Volunteer and Army Veteran Mikel Burroughs for "Burly's Warriors" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).

We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

Developing a robust support network is crucial for managing mental health challenges, enhancing resilience, and fostering overall well-being. This network can encompass various individuals and groups providing emotional, practical, informational, and social assistance.

Building a strong support network

  • Be Present and Listen Actively: Create a safe space for them to talk, free from judgment or interruption. Don't pressure them, but let them know you're there to listen whenever they're ready.

  • Validate Their Experiences: Acknowledge the reality and impact of their trauma and suffering. Remind them they are not alone and many others have shared similar struggles.

  • Promote Self-Care: Encourage healthy habits like regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient rest. Participate in activities they enjoy, whether it's going for a walk, watching a movie, or pursuing a hobby.

  • Encourage Connection: Support them in maintaining relationships with family and friends. Suggest attending support groups for veterans or first responders
